Ollie Law – Resilience Guru, Services Exporter, Front-Door Opener

Paul Sinclair and Ollie Law

September 30, 2026

In this pod I catch up with Ollie Law, Co-Founder and Group Managing Director of Fixinc Group, who joins me from Kuala Lumpur after leaving Christchurch in late January 2026.

Ollie is the freshest Kiwi Flee I’ve spoken to, to date. At the time of recording, he’s only been out of New Zealand for eight months, which gives this conversation a different edge. This isn’t someone with 20 years offshore looking back. It’s a conversation with someone still validating the move, and working out the cost-benefit of an up-sticks call.

Ollie’s business is all about crisis, disruption, emergency management, business continuity, and resilience; helping people prepare for a really bad day in the office.

Ollie doesn’t describe the move offshore as leaving New Zealand. He says he’s “opened a front door” – creating a way for revenue, relationships, and lessons to flow home.

We talk about what it means to be “in the room” as a Kiwi business trying to grow in Southeast Asia, why doing business over email doesn’t cut it, and why coffee, food, family, patience, & presence count for more than a pitch deck.

This is also a conversation about personal resilience. Ollie advises organisations on how to withstand pressure & disruption, then took a 12-month plan for entering Malaysia and compressed it into three weeks. At one point, someone who knows him better than most, noticed he’d stopped smiling.

So this pod roams across ambition, risk, fathers & sons, Southeast Asia, New Zealand as seen from offshore, the opportunity sitting in front of Kiwi exporters, and the fact that building a resilient company can sometimes test the resilience of the person leading the charge.

A huge thanks to Ollie for joining me on Kiwi Flees. He’s yet another thoughtful, driven Kiwi doing something tough offshore, trying very deliberately to make sure some of the gain flows back home, staying connected to the tribe on the edge of the planet.
