Terry Harper

Terry is the principal of TerraFormDesign, a Brisbane-based consultancy specialising in managing the relationship between natural eco-systems and human ego-systems for lasting mutual benefit.

With extensive senior executive experience, Terry understands the business of government and has more than 30 years’ experience delivering nature based tourism, protected area management and sustainability solutions.

Terry’s experience includes managing many World Heritage Areas (including the Wet Tropics, Great Barrier Reef, Fraser Island, Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves of Australia and the Tasmanian Wilderness), vast areas of protected land and seascapes, establishing self-funding business arrangements for high profile natural areas and eco-tourism destinations and working with Indigenous groups to build land and sea management capacity.

As a Churchill Fellow, Terry has studied protected and natural area management approaches around the globe and has represented Australia in United Nations negotiating forums and consulted on international projects including significant foundational work with NEOM Tourism and Nature Region.

Terry is an energetic, high achieving leader working with industry, community and government interests. His outstanding facilitation skills, solutions focus and capacity to blend big ideas with business pragmatism help organisations deliver excellent performance, especially in relation to managing nature-based tourism and protected areas at the large landscape scale.
